All right: Wendell already in Porto

On Wednesday morning Wendell trained again with the old colleagues in Leverkusen. But it was his last unity at Bayer 04. His farewell to the Bundesliga was fixed.

With the birth of his child on Tuesday in Cologne, the 28-year-old has skipped the last private hurdle to make his change to FC Porto perfect. So Wendell, who was changed to Leverkusen, who was changed to Leverkusen in 2014 for a transfer of 6.5 million euros to Leverkusen, to complete the medical check there at FC Porto on Thursday. Thereafter, Wendell should sign a four-year contract for information from Portugal.

Bayer is scheduled for the left-back a transfer between four and five million euros, as reported from Portugal. Thus, the Leverkusen strategy, with Wendell in the past year, is rising to extend the originally up to 2021 contract for another season. Instead of turning the Wendell release-free transfer, the club now receives a stately sum.

A successor must no longer oblige Bayer, with the Dutch Mittelchel Bakker (21) of PSG already brought a new, seven million euros transferred revenue for the position on the left in the four-chain. Bakkers Landsmann Daley Sinkgraven acts as a backup.

So Bayer could invest the transfer for Wendell in a starred offensive wing player, which the squad is urgently needed after the exits of Leon Bailey (Aston Villa) and Demarai Gray (Everton). Or in a right-back - the second position next to the outer storms, on which Bayer is not yet equipped with the necessary quality in the width, since Timothy Fosu-Mensah (cruciate ligament tear) fails for at least until November and Mitchell wiser should be delivered.
